Liz Mason has been self-publishing for twenty years. Her work has been printed in such publications as The Chicago Tribune, Punk Planet, Venus, Lumpen and The Zine Yearbook. Recent published works include Cul-de-sac #7 The Adult Geek Issue, Ever Evolving Bastion of Freakdom: A Quimby's Bookstore History In Words and Pictures and Awesome Things. She once appeared on the reality show Starting Over to provide instruction on publishing zines, which NBC executives referred to as “pamphlets,” as if they were Marxist propaganda. She is also the narrator for the Detour smart phone app’s immersive audio walking tour “Wicker Park: Love, Loss, & Booze.” Currently, she is currently the manager of Quimby’s Bookstore, home of wild and weird reading material in Chicago, where she has worked since 2001.
